Comfort and Sustainability with Heat Pumps

Over 40% of Concord's greenhouse gas emissions come from burning fossil fuels to power our buildings. Transitioning away from these dirty fuels to using clean electricity to heat and cool our homes is key to reducing emissions.

For other priority climate actions check out the Sustainable Concord plan.

The good news is there is a clean, cost-effective, and comfortable solution – heat pumps. Heat pumps keep buildings comfortable year-round, providing both heating and cooling more efficiently than traditional systems. Better yet, they are powered by Concord’s increasingly clean electricity. Concord Municipal Light Plant (CMLP) currently supplies over 60% of its electricity from carbon-free sources and is on track to meet its goal of becoming 100% carbon-free by 2030.

What are Heat Pumps?

whatareheatpumpswide

Heat pumps are highly efficient heating and cooling systems able to heat your home or business in the winter and provide air conditioning in the summer. Heat pumps have been in use in warmer climates for decades, but in the past decade have undergone a technology revolution and are now a great heat source in cold climates such as New England. These clean heating and cooling technologies can greatly reduce your greenhouse gas emissions, reduce your energy costs, and improve the comfort of your home.

Concord Clean Comfort

Are heat pumps right for you? The Concord Clean Comfort Program, launched by CMLP earlier this year, has trained coaches who will help you figure that out, and then if you wish, help you navigate the process of getting your installation completed. All for free.

Concord residents also have access to a number of other resources and benefits through Concord Clean Comfort.

Join the growing number of Concordians who are cutting their carbon emissions and improving indoor comfort by getting their heating and cooling from heat pumps.
